While holidays, birthdays and other occasions (especially Christmas!) are a great opportunity to show how much you care for someone, it's as equally important to remember the earth and to be as green savvy as you can in your holiday gift shopping.

There are a number of ways to accommodate both, it just takes a little thought and creativity. Below are a few of our recommended green companies for holiday gift purchasing and, be sure to check out Blue's how to on greening your holidays for more personal and creative gift ideas.

1. Mountain Rose Herbs - Soy candles, natural incense, facial care products, and much more: "the Leading Organic Supplier in not only the finest organic botanical products, but the freshest as well."

2. Sierra Club Membership - Membership enrollment gift: "When you join the Sierra Club you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to preserve irreplaceable wildlands, save endangered and threatened wildlife, and protect this fragile environment we call home."

3. Green Mountain Coffee - Free trade organic coffee and more: "When you choose Fair Trade Certified and organic coffees, you improve the quality of life in coffee communities around the world."

4. Gaiam - Organic cotton and other natural fiber apparel, mind-body-fitness gift ideas and much more: "Gaiam Lifestyle Media is the most compelling and vivid way we inspire and empower people to be part of Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS)."

5. Climate Trust - Carbon offsets: "A greenhouse gas (GHG) offset is a project implemented specifically to reduce the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Offsets are so named because they counteract or offset the purchaser's GHG emissions." "The sole mission of The Climate Trust is to promote climate change solutions by providing high quality greenhouse gas offset projects and advancing sound offset policy."

We also recommend joining a number of organizations and networks including our own Dianovo.com (if you haven't already) to stay up to date with the green, LOHAS movements. Some others include Co-op America, GreenBusiness.net, GreenFestivales.org, and many others.
