DistinctiveFabric.com's 1-Yr Energy Use Offset

I'm excited to announce that an awesome, inspiring natural and sustainable fabric section has been added to DistinctiveFabric.com's selection.

A number of eco-friendly fabrics will continue to be introduced over the coming months. The first two premiered are an exquisite hemp silk and a stretch cotton hemp. They're currently only available in one color each however, we're working on adding others as interest grows in these fabrics.

In addition to this step towards greater sustainability, DistinctiveFabric.com has also calculated it's monthly average energy consumption, along with its warehouse's other two tenants The Do LaB and Lucent Dossier. The total used is 1,800 KWH/month, of which DF's share is 40%: 720 KWH/month or 8,640 KWH/yr.

We've offset our energy use for 1 year and are currently working to calculate both our previous years energy use and in the process, plan to identify our yearly average for our complete footprint (not just energy usage), based on our previous 3 years of operations and at least double up on our offsets to cover our footprint both in the negative and positive (kind of like how drinking caffeinated tea, coffee or soda will take twice as much out of you, but in the reverse).

We're also implementing a new custom cuts service for our customers using a local service provider whose cutter's blade sharpens itself while cutting! We thought this to be a great example where Green technology with a natural, logical approach to an everyday problem, can provide a valuable, cost-saving solution.

There's even more in store throughout the coming year and we're very excited to be moving into a Greener phase of operations.
